False Peace
Holder may look through his draw pile and select one card and continue fighting. Shuffle draw pile after play. Errata/Play As: Search deck for any card and put in hand.

This card doesn't have an official errata.

Is this card a look ability or a search?
This is the way Lackey gave it to me. All hail the power of Lackey!

As currently written I'd have to say it's a Look. It doesn't show up in the official errata list, and with our creation of Look as an ability after the Play-as was given, I'd have to say that's inaccurate as well.

So then as it's written, you could look at your deck, take a card then return them without shuffling.

From the REG, under Search:
Quote
Clarifications:
An ability that targets a card in a deck, discard pile, or Artifact Pile that is not in a specific location in that pile, includes an implied search of the of the pile for the target.
Because False Peace is looking at the whole deck, I believe there's an implied search.  Also, if it's not a search, I'm not sure there's a default location for whatever card you selected (since it doesn't say put in hand).

The difference between "Look" and "Search" is a muddy area. One that didn't get vetted before this recent REG update, but it is already on our list of topics to tackle next.

We have the John promo who looks at the whole deck and puts it back without shuffling. I've always considered that a "Look", not a "Search". But based on the quote Aggie found in the REG that may not be entirely accurate.

False Peace (and the C deck Search) both have archaic wording. I'm with Aggie on the False Peace question. I'd have to rule it a "Search" based on what he's quoted from the REG.

Just to be clear, I agree that False Peace would correctly be classified as a search.

Wouldn't John promo still comfortably fall under the "Look" category as it does not target a card in the deck?

I also would rule False Peace as a Search for the reasons above, and would not have thought differently without the question being raised (due to the way Search is defined in the REG and based on precedent).

However, I also agree that Look and Search need to be looked at more so that we can search out a better and more consistent solution overall.

Concerning False Peace, am I correct in saying that this is an interrupt ability as the wording states "and continue fighting"?

No, there is no interrupt component, that part doesn't actually do anything (some cards will have wording like that).  It would have to say that it interrupts.

Nope. That's just old clarifying text.

Thanks gents.  I wasn't sure since it was an older card with older wording.

Is False Peace a search ability with old wording or is it a look with an implied search in the same way that heal has an implied search?

If the former, what will be done to make an ability that explicitly says look work as a search?

If the latter, when you select the card, do you actually get to do anything with it as afaik select isn't a defined ability in redemption...
Just one more thing...

The former. It's an old card with horrible wording. Probably nothing. Most people know it's poorly worded and just assume it's a search anyways.

This pretty accurately expresses the muddied area between look and search and also the problem with implied abilities in my mind. The elders have said that they are discussing this though so we'll just have to see how this all gets worked out later. I don't expect much to change for this cards current ruling though.
