Falling Away vs Guardian of Your Souls: Review?

Son of God (good dominant): "Rescue any Lost Soul in play."
Falling Away (evil dominant): "Select any Redeemed Soul and return card to your Land of Bondage. Treat it as a Lost Soul. Subtract the rescue from appropriate player’s current score."

I believe the general rule of thumb (to eliminate slapjack) is that whoever created the opportunity to play dominants get the first chance to respond to that opportunity.  Like the player who drew the lost soul gets first response, the person who played harvest time gets first response, etc.

Jon's insight has led me to recall a past Nats ruling on GoYS being effective to stop Falling Away even if Falling Away was played first.  I've been using that scenario ever since to judge 'failed' or 'wasted' FA's.  But doesn't that ruling contradict the principle behind 'instants' here using our SoG vs Burial scenario?

Thinktank please.

Thanks and Godbless.

I think that must just be an "old" ruling.  Dominants can't be interrupted, so if a person can play Falling Away and does, then there is no way for GoYS to stop it.

Correct.  Either FA is played first or Guardian is played first.  If FA comes out first, you don't get to un-fall it with Guardian.

Very good.  It's just that a Nats ruling made in MO enabled a player to wait for FA to be played and then uses GoYS to render FA as failed and discarded.

Godbless all.
