Well as seen in this thread

Us T2 players have hit a bit of a snag. What exactly IS a successful block? Is blocking a BC a successful block?

Hey,

An Evil Character that wins a battle challenge has made a successful block.

So if there is no LS at stake, what exactly is being "blocked"?

I have to disagree with Tim. This means that one evil character in a side battle of two evil characters will get credit... so they're both "blocking?" This does not seem right to me.

A side battle is not a battle challenge.  There is no experience credit earned in side battles.  No one is blocking in a side battle.

My understanding is that a successful block is when a hero fails to redeem a lost soul in a rescue attempt when an Evil Character is blocking.

Woman as Snares does not work in a side battle as she must be blocking... as Maly said, neither blocking or rescuing happens in a side battle.

Wow... I'm an idiot. This whole time I've been thinking "side battle," not "battle challenge." I agree with Tim and you should get credit for blocking a bc. ::)

Again I ask, if there is no LS at stake (e.g. battle challenge), what exactly is being "blocked"?

I think blocking is successfully beating the hero.

I think blocking is successfully beating the hero.

It really needs to be well-defined, because Bryon hinted at future hero-EC side battles.  If it is indeed only related to a RA or BC type of battle then it should be spelled out explicitly in the rules.

Agreed. But I think as of now that's the general definition.

Bryon ruled at today's tournament that the REG quote I had was wrong.  One can block both a rescue attempt and a battle challenge.

Thus, RR was right.  (My apologies for butting in when you had it right all along, and I must have misunderstood something when Bryon first explained T2 rules to us a couple years back, combined with almost never being in a situation where somebody accepts a battle challenge and expects to survive it.)  The hero gets experience when they rescue a lost soul, and a evil character gets one anytime they successfully block a hero.

So if there is no LS at stake, what exactly is being "blocked"?

Bryon pointed out that if I made a battle challenge with Joshua (the gold hero), you would be blocking my attempt to steal your site.
