Does an exchange ability also involve a search as well? So would Hezekiah's signet ring stop an exchange?  Thanks

Exchanging a card with a card in deck or discard pile involve searches, but exchanging anywhere else doesn't.

So, Hezekiah's Signet Ring will stop AutO from exchanging for a judge in a deck, but not one in territory.

This is correct.  Also, just commenting here to note that while this clarification is in the current REG under Search, it will also be added to Exchange.
