since were on topic here, a question or two:

1. Why does the enhancment convert to evil gold?

2. Why does it push the character back to territory? I thought you could holy grail a character that was targeted with this card? I thought two evil characters could fight each other?

For number 2, what if it is a Simeon banded to Jacob? Does Jacob fight with Simeon to kill the EC blocking? No. So, for ease, it is ruled that convert returns to territory.

For number 1, recently (or perhaps in the future) the rule on Converts was changed to make unspecified converts convert to their own color. Previously, you had the choice of Brigade.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

I understand this. So is it untrue that you can convert this character with Holy Grail, when Evil Spirit is used against him/her?

There wouldn't be much of a point, since Holy Grail's play as says you have to convert someone in territory.

I'm pretty sure this is a legal play.

oh that why i'm confused, because it does push you to territory where you become a legal target for Grail. ok, so timing issues ok here as well? Because Evil Spirit states until end of battle, and the battle doesnt resolve until both player agree due to removal by special ability, and this gives the player initiative to covert with Grail?

Exactly. The newly converted Hero is returned to territory, where it is a valid target for HG. I don't see why this wouldn't work. "For remainder of battle" isn't clarified at all, so I think what it means is that if the converted character is an EC at the end of the battle, it is returned to its pre-conversion status; however, the character is already a hero when that sets in, so I think it does nothing, meaning that the hero stays whatever color you converted it to with HG. Is this right? If not, I think "until end of battle" needs more clarification.

I can't be completely certain, but I believe so. It'd be an interesting way to change the brigade color of one of your opponent's heroes though.

I've always disagreed with this because for years the REG has explicity stated characters convert back to their original brigade.  Apparently though this is one of those "status quo" things because Bryon and your brother both admitted changing a hero's brigade by double conversion.  Maybe the new REG will reaffirm the existing rule.   ::)

it would make sense that it would change back regardless of Holy Grail.

Exactly.  For the umpteenth time, here's the current REG wording:

Quote from: REG
Instant Abilities > Convert
How to Use
Evil Characters may only be converted to Hero brigade colors (i.e., blue, green, purple, red, silver, teal, white, and gold).  The only exception is Saul/Paul (as Saul), whose natural brigade color is multicolor when a Hero.  When no color is specified on a conversion enhancement card, the character converts to the same brigade color as the conversion enhancement card.  The converted character remains under the control of its owner.  The character reverts to its original state only if the card is returned to the draw pile, placed in the discard pile, or converted back.  The character remains converted even if set aside, captured, or rescued.  Rules for duplicate characters still apply.
