Ignore in battle

Arianna starts a battle, Beast of the Sea "may band to demon" blocks, bands to Lying Spirit "band human Evil Character", bands to Emperor Nero.  Arianna is losing so she plays two angels that bands in Angel of His Presence.  The angels are losing (15/12) against the Evil characters (20/16).  The angels play Spiritual Warfare "Hero ignores all human Evil Characters."  So now Nero is ignored.  The demons are dying and are discarded, is Nero discarded as well since he was part of the losing team.  If the numbers matter, then say the angels had enough offense to kill the evil characters, does he get discarded then.

Emperor Nero returns to territory.  Ignored characters return to territory.
Final ANB errata: Return player to game.

+1 Ignore simply means the targeted character or characters have no effect in battle. The good part of this is that ignore abilities normally trigger a successful RA/block. On the other side of the coin, the ignored character cant be discarded since he is no longer in battle.

However, Ignores can also cause the defender to laugh in joy.

Player 1 RA's with Angel at Jerusalem.
Player 2 blocks with Messenger of Satan to a Sadducee.
Player 1 plays Spiritual Warfare and Victory to ignore both Evil Characters, He laughs as he thinks he won.
Player 2 technically now has infinate initative, he just cannot target the hero, so he proceeds to play High Preists Plot, Confusion, and then Death of Unrighteous. He laughs even harder than player 1 did.

um, unless I am mistaken, that would work if there was immunity invovled, but ignore does not

I dont think so.  Unless they interrupt the ignore card (Victory cannot be interrupted so Messenger of Stan goes back no matter what) then the battle is over, no more cards can be played, the Saducee follows messenger of Stan and the battle is over with the heroes winning.  When an ingnore is played, that card has to be dealt with or the battle is over.  If immunity is plays, then you can continue the battle as long as you do not target the heroes.  Your scenario works with an immunity card, but not an ignore.

Wrong. Ignore basically makes it so that the evil character(s) has endless initiative, and can't hurt the hero, and the hero is winning. That's why ignore can definitely backfire.

+1 Lambo and Fireninja

Ignore = You can't hurt X, X can't hurt you, no more X can enter battle.
Immune = X can't hurt you.

Not indefinitely.
Quote from: REG
Your Hero is winning by ignore if your Hero is ignoring the Evil Character(s) in battle. ... your opponent has initiative and can play any evil enhancement of matching brigade. However, the special ability on the enhancement cannot be directed at a Hero that is immune to the Evil Character or is ignoring the Evil Character.

If the Evil side runs out of cards to play and all ECs in battle are still being ignored, the battle ends.

Ignore is a winning play, but it is not a battle-ending ability.  The ignored character can still play cards that do not affect the ignoring characters, and initiative is still calculated for players to play Enhancements.

In single-character situations, the single ignored character is basically always losing because he is being ignored.  In multi-character situations, it can vary.  In the listed scenario, the 15/12 angels are beating the 10/9 demons, so the blockers are losing; Nero can play cards that do not affect the ignoring Hero, and the demons can play whatever cards they want.  If it was Arianna by herself, her 8/7 would be losing to the 10/9 demons, so she would still have initiative.
