Title: Emperor Tiberius
Post by: melike1hit on July 06, 2011, 11:50:56 AM
Ok so he is a Crimson with an ability "Take Pontius Pilate or Herod Agrippa I prisoner and place in your land of bondage. Treat as a Lost Soul"

Now Herod is also a Crimson, does that mean if I have Herod I have to take my Harod and put him in my Land of Bondage or do I take my oppenant's Herod, or Both?

If only one is in play, then you must capture it, regardless of who owns it. If 2+ are in play, then you choose which one to capture.

Correct. You can have both Emperor Tiberius and Herod in your territory without worrying about anyone being captured, but when Tiberius goes out to battle, then he captures Herod.

In order to use a banding character's ability, the banding character (in this case Herodian) must enter battle first, then the character he's banding to (in this case Herod Agrippa I) comes in. If the banding is negated, then Herod would be kicked out of battle, and only Herodian would be left. If you block with just Herod right away, then Herodian can't come in after him.

Just be aware that if you do not have Wall of Protection active, then your opponent could band to your Tiberius to capture your Herod.

Any card that converts an EC of your choice (or says to convert Saul specifically) can be used to convert him. Even if it specifies a brigade, he'll be converted to the multi color Paul.

Holy Grail is by far the most common way to convert him

Since you seem to want to learn more, here is a fun idea:

1. Wait until you have Raider's Camp in your territory.
2. Convert Herod Agrippa I to a hero.
3. Block with Emperor Tiberius and capture the hero Herod Agrippa I.
4. Put the captured Herod into Raider's Camp.
5. If Tiberius loses (no way!  ;) ), give yourself back Herod Agrippa I rather than give up a Lost Soul.

Raiders' Camp (Ki)
Type: Fortress • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: If your human Evil Character captures a Hero, place it here. When opponent makes a successful rescue attempt or battle challenge, instead of surrendering a Lost Soul, release all Heroes from here back to owner. Does not count as redeemed soul.

How do I activate this artifact?

You activate it during your preparation phase like a normal artifact.

if i have to activate it during my turn i will b losing my hero

No. Unholy writ is an optional-use artifact because it says "may." You can use it whenever you want.

and if i activate after my battle phase y would the oppenant attack me?

As an opponent, I have to be aware that you have that and that I may lose a hero. Some players will attack with a band, so that you would only capture one of them. Some people activate cards like Covenant of Palestine or Obadiah's Caves that prevent or protect from capture. Some characters are already protected from capture, like Lydia, Elisabeth, and Ahimaaz.

Unholy Writ is also a popular target for Destruction of Nehushtan or other artifact killers.
