Archelaus - Who's Your Daddy?

For game play purposes (aka Herod's Treachery) is the crimson no SA EC Archelaus considered a Herod?  He was the son of Herod, the Great, historically called Herod Archelaus and part of the line of the Herods.

Nice.  He also had a Samaritan mother so that makes him an evil Samaritan, right?

Wikipedia being a questionable source, I'm more inclined to believe the Jewish Encylopedia which sites his mother as a Samaritan woman named Malthace.  Herod Antipas is said to be his full brother which would also make him Samaritan I assume?

I also found the information about having a Samaritan mother in The Writings of Flavius Josephus -
War of the Jews: Book 1 - Chapter 33.

Wikipedia is usually a good jumping off point for research, and in this case wikipedia provides a reference to the same material you used.  wikipedia isn't perfect but it is handy.

that is true but we need some out side sources for where some of the heroes/EC are from what they did

Does the Bible actually say that Enoch was male?  How dare we rule he is a male if the Bible doesn't say it!  :)

Some things can be inferred.  Some things can be found out in history books and other references.

History backs up the Bible, and fills in some of the details.  We read in the Bible that Archelaus was the son of Herod the Great, and thus he is a Herod.  But we don't read who his mom was.  In an encyclopedia or a history book, it is mentioned that Archelaus is the son of Herod (good, the reference book is correct in at least that point, and so we can reasonably assume it is likely correct on who the mother is), and it says his mother was a Samaritan.  Interesting fact!  The reference does not contradict scripture and is accepted as fact by Bible history scholars.  We can trust it at least as far as this game goes, if not further.

history books also tell us the earth is 4 billion years old, yet this isnt exactly accepted by biblical standards.

the point is secular 'history books' should probably not be used to try and validate a game based on the bible.

Archelaus is from Apostles.

I would say that legitimate history books that do not conflict with the Bible are okay to be used as sources of information.

Redemption left the entirely-bible-based game a long time ago when it printed St. Patrick and the Emperors. I think we can use 'secular' books to validate as much as is desired now.

so what about the legitimate history books that do conflict with the bible? talk about a double standard.

Being in alignment with the Word of God IS the standard, it's not a double standard.
