End the Battle vs Interrupt

Can an 'end the battle' enhancement be interrupted? I remember the answer was 'no' at one time but am wondering if special initiative rules changed that.

Example: Heavy Taxes vs Wonderment.

Yes and no, is the answer. Heavy Taxes does NOT say, "cannot be negated." So, if you prevent it, then it does not work. Also, if you have a card (such as Covenant with Noah or Gamaliels Speech) that negate from OUTSIDE of battle, then you can use that to negate Heavy Taxes as well.

Oh, but that doesn't hold true, of course, for such end the battle cards as Forgotten History.

I thought "end the battle" cards are inherently CBN which would meant that it couldn't be interupted or prevented correct?  Because at PA states an "end the battle" card was played and judged as inherently CBN which meant battle over.

They are inherently cannot be INTERRUPTED, because Heavy Taxes can still be prevented. And yes, itc annot be negated after it is played by a card IN BATTLE, but it can be negated by  card outside of battle, because that card is not a part of battle and acts independent of battle.

It's CBI. Using Gam's speech or Covenant of Noah wouldn't help. The battle is over.

Quote from: REG>End the Battle>Clarifications
All end the battle abilities effectively have ”cannot be interrupted” status because the ability is used in the battle phase and causes the battle phase to end, and abilities can only be interrupted or negated during the phase in which they are used.

End the battle abilities do not directly defeat your character (it's lack of */* that will cause you to lose) so it does not grant special initiative.

Cards like Covenant with Noah and Gamaliel's Speech can't negate an end the battle ability because at the point you will be able to use one of them the turn will have already moved on to the discard phase.

Might be a good topic for a Real Rulings with Redoubter. ;)

Agree with kram and Gabe.  The phase ends once "end the battle" is used, and abilities completed in a prior phase cannot be interrupted.

Might be a good topic for a Real Rulings with Redoubter. ;)
Once I get back into doing that (it is on hiatus until after Nationals), I will probably do the entire "previous phase" discussion as one :)

Well, I stand corrected. Those abilities are to hard to keep track of sometimes...
