"Add to Battle" - Is it a band ability?

I don't think this question has ever been resolved - is "add to battle" considered a band ability?

There were two topics last year were never ruled on but only had Jordan and Pol stating they didn't believe it should be and an implied status quo that "add to battle" currently was a band ability.

I thought of the issue again when pondering use of Hosea in a deck to capture pesky Egyptians.

Hosea - "You may capture an O.T. human Evil Character with a band ability to opponent’s Land of Bondage. Cannot be interrupted."

Pharaoh's Cupbearer - "...and add your Genesis character to the battle."
Pharaoh's Baker - "...and add your evil Genesis Egyptian to the battle."

I've been asking for "Add to Battle" to get a full definition in the new REG.

Add to Battle is strange because it can function as both a Band and a Play ability (See Evil Spawn (Pi) for a case where it could be either).

Since the status quo is that "add to battle" is only considered banding under certain conditions, I would think that Hosea cannot target those Egyptians.

I would think that it would be a band ability when it adds a second character to battle and the first stays.

Yes, that is true. But if there was no other character in battle, then it would not be a band ability. Therefore, at face value, add to battle is not a band ability.

While it hasn't yet been resolved as to whether or not it should be a distinct ability, or should be defined based on what it does, add to battle is certainly not by default a band ability. So YMT is correct. I would say based on the current status quo (where add to battle can be a band ability if it does band) that if you band Hosea into battle after Egyptian Magicians or Nebuchadnezzar brings in another character, they could be captured, since their ability would make them a banding ability.
