Can you play Provisions on an Ambush'd hero assuming you have a green hero besides the Ambush'd one?

If so, what would be the order of events transpiring when that hero entered battle?

You can't target the facedown hero.

To expand, face-down cards are not in play and cannot be targeted by abilities unless they specify those cards since they default to play otherwise.

You can expand on previous rulings on, for example, face-down artifacts to explain this and similar issues (for example, Santa's Wrath should not be able to discard face-down heroes).
