I assume that "type" refers to identifiers, so that if you set aside a Sadducee you can recur any generic Sadducee, correct? Or does it refer to the actual card set aside, so that you have to set aside a generic Sadducee to recur generic Sadducees?
Doctrine Like Leaven
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Black/Gray • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Set aside a Pharisee or Sadducee and decrease it 0/1 per turn. Each upkeep phase, search your discard pile for a generic Evil Character of the type set aside. Place it in your territory. • Identifiers: None • Verse: Matthew 16:12 • Availability: Rock of Ages (Set 18)

the ECs that you search for must be generic. You can set aside any phar or sad.

Do they have to be the same brigade (i.e. Sadducee or Pharisee), or can I set aside High Priest Annas to search for gray Pharisees?
-
I thought that the word "type" was referring to whether it was a Pharisee or Sadducee, not whether it was unique or generic (since you can only search for generic anyway). If you set aside a Pharisee, you can only search for generic Pharisees.

That has always been my interpretation.

Set aside a Pharisee-type to recur any generic Pharisee-types, or set aside a Sadducee-type to recur any generic Sadducee-types.

Okay, got it. Thanks! :)
