Do captured characters retain identifiers?

ex. Assyrian Siege Army work with captured Survivor?
This is the way Lackey gave it to me. All hail the power of Lackey!

Most identifiers are retained.  A captured David is still David, but is no longer a Hero.

So yes, a captured Survivor is no longer an Evil Character, but is still an Assyrian, so ASA works.

I have no idea what the special abilities are of aforementioned cards, but I just wanted to confirm that there is still a distinction between identifiers that trip triggers and identifiers that allow for targeting?

There should not be, but I don't know if that's been stricken down yet.

"Identifier" is not defined in the REG. Should it be? The issues being discussed here would probably be best addressed under the entries for Capture and Convert. I propose the following additions to those entries;

Under Capture > Default Conditions
Captured characters retain their identifier(s) but may only be targeted as captured characters.

Under Convert > Default Conditions
Converted characters retain their identifier(s) unless the identifier is alignment specific (Ex: Angels are only Heros, Demons and Magicians are only Evil Characters).

Getting back to STAMP's post(age), if I captured an Assyrian King, and a card says "if there is an Assyrian King in play," would the additions you are suggesting indicate that there is, or is not? Or are we saying that the suggested entry only refers to targetting, as in the case of "discard an Assyrian King?"

The captured Assyrian king would still meet the condition of a card that says, "cannot be negated if an Assyrian king is in play", but could not be targeted by the discard ability you describe.

My intent is to make it clear with additional language to the capture entry in the REG. is there a different way it could be said that would make it more obvious?

Perhaps not. Maybe you are right that we just need to officially define "identifiers," and clarify their purpose in Redemption, as related to special abilities that reference them.

The above ruling seems inconsistant. If a King is in play... vs. Discard a King... in reference to captured characters? What is the difference?

Maybe an analogy?  If a Minnesota Redemption player is at Nats... versus One Minnesota Redemption player must leave to buy more Mountain Dew...

Or we can just get rid of the silly rule. It was literally made to stop one specific combo that's not even that good. If we get rid of the double-standard for identifiers, we won't need any of this linguistic gymnastics.
