Discard X from Y = Look at all card located in Y?

If I use Bringing Grief and choose to discard from hand, artifact pile or reserve, I would be looking at all the cards in those locations when choosing what to discard?

Phrased another way, if High Priest's Plot were reprinted, would its wording mirror that of Bringing Grief with something like, "If used by a Sadducee, discard a good card from a hand. Cannot be negated if Judas Iscariot is in play." ?

Assuming I'm understanding the question:

Yes, Bringing Grief allows you to look at a hidden location if you choose it. So, if you choose to discard from your opponent's hand, you'll get to look and actually choose a card (instead of discarding randomly).

Importantly, if you choose a location and look at it, you are locked into that location. You can't look at your opponent's hand, decide there aren't any good targets there, and choose something from their territory instead.
ANB is good. Change my mind.

When a card lists multiple locations for a target, you choose the location first, then are locked into that location, like Bobbert said. That should be consistent across all similar cards.

I think the only card like that that allows you to view multiple locations is Seize Him.
