Use of Dominants After Battle

A player makes a rescue attempt and, after a battle, wins via special ability. However, at the end of the battle, he has 11 cards in hand, and the Speed Bump LS is out. Is he able to use Christian Martyr on one of his own heroes (not a rescuing hero) to put his hand size down to 10 to make the rescue or not? I ruled that he could, based on the same logic that someone can use Burial or Christian Martyr to prevent the gain of a soul after battle.

Your ruled correctly because he won by a special ability. If he would have won by the numbers he would have had to play his Dominant before the battle is over.
Have you visited the Land of Redemption today?
