David in play.
Uriah attacks.
Unholy writ captures him.
Does Uriah get discarded and d/c an e/c because of his special ability or is he just captured?
Thanks.
-
Yes, he is discarded. If his SA said "discard this hero," he would not be discarded. While he is no longer a hero, he is still Uriah.
-
Thanks-does he also get to d/c an e/c?
-
Absolutely.
-
if opponent has a Uriah in play can i discard it instead?
-
No, for the same reason you cannot discard an opponent's uzzah with your uzzah's ability.
-
LOL!!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that "After battle," means some point prior to returning characters to territory. Otherwise, this card would receive a nomination for the annual D'oh! Awards.
-
Nope. "After Battle" simply means the completion of the Battle Phase.

So, I forget. Is Battle Resolution the last part of the Battle Phase, its own phase, or not really belonging to any phase but occurring after Battle Phase and before Discard Phase?

Battle Resolution is the last phase of the Battle Phase.

Battle Resolution is the last phase of the Battle Phase.
So you see where I'm going with the "D'oh!"?
-
I'm not a T2 player. I can only think in the cycle of "DRAW! ITBWIN! DRAW MORE! DOMINANTS!"

LOL!! Come to the dark side. ;)
If Uriah returns to territory he protects himself from discard although he says to discard himself. I think Uriah is schizophrenic. :D
(Yes, I realize there are other scenarios for Uriah besides returning to territory, but that just made laugh.)
-
If the battle phase is over, his ability is no longer active.
-
If I throw Uriah in a side battle (via King Rehoboam or something), is his ability still active once the side battle (but not the main battle) concludes? I think so.... after all, it's just one battle phase.

nope. (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/ruling-questions/'end-the-battle'-in-a-side-battle/msg452580/#msg452580)

watwatwat. I even posted in that thread.... why don't I remember it...?
The rulebook says "The side battle is still part of the same Battle Phase because the main battle has not yet concluded." If they really changed that, then :(.
-
If the battle phase is over, his ability is no longer active.
But he's back in territory before the Battle Phase is officially over. ;)

...? Can you point me to where the REG/Rulebook/Elders says that happens?

It's in the rulebook in the Battle Resolution section under each of the four outcomes.

The rulebook has this (http://www.redemptionreg.com/REG/Master/overview.htm) as the battle structure:
Battle Phase (encompasses everything below)
A. Begin a battle (or don't)
...1. Hero leaves hand or territory
...2. Hero enters Field of Battle
[etc.]
B. Block (or don't)
C. Initiative check, playing cards, etc.
D. Battle resolution
...1. End battle
...2. End of battle or final battle outcome abilities trigger
...3. Discard defeated characters
...4. Redeem soul
...5. Return surviving characters
...6. Discard characters at */0
...7. Experience Credit
...8. Ongoing abilities end
"Final battle outcome abilities trigger" sounds like when an "After battle" ability like Uriah's would happen, which is before he returns to territory.
-
Whoa whoa whoa, that means Uriah can be a battle winning ability if he and another hero are in battle against a single EC....
-
Once Battle Resolution starts, the outcome is decided. (http://www.redemptionreg.com/REG/Master/gloss_battleresolution1.htm) "End of battle" abilities like Uriah's happen after success or failure is determined, but before surviving characters are returned to territory. Looks like Uriah has been handled properly.

LOL! That appears to cover it. (Probably added shortly after Uriah was sent off to the printer. ;) )
In any case, that looks to be step-by-step, versus the list of things you can do in Prep Phase. It's really getting to the point that I'm going to create a start up company that produces these for players:

Wait, so: Uriah RA. Opp blocks. Uriah wins inish, and plays Bravery of David. Then:
Battle Phase (encompasses everything below)
A. Begin a battle (or don't)
...1. Hero leaves hand or territory
...2. Hero enters Field of Battle
[etc.]
B. Block (or don't)
C. Initiative check, playing cards, etc.
D. Battle resolution
...1. End battlecheck!
...2. End of battle or final battle outcome abilities triggerUriah is discarded
...3. Discard defeated characters
...4. Redeem soul There is no hero in battle to redeem soul....
...5. Return surviving characters
...6. Discard characters at */0
...7. Experience Credit
...8. Ongoing abilities end
"Final battle outcome abilities trigger" sounds like when an "After battle" ability like Uriah's would happen, which is before he returns to territory.

The "End the battle" part of Battle Resolution (step 1) encompasses, as I showed in the other REG link, resolving the battle. So it's like this:
1. End battle, see that the Heroes have won and will be awarded a soul.
2. End of battle abilities trigger, discarding Uriah and whoever else.
3. Discard defeated characters, nothing applies.
4. Redeem a soul: yes, because as determined in step 1, the Heroes have won.
5. Return surviving characters: Uriah's already gone, and the EC was defeated, so nothing here.
-
1. End battle, see that the Heroes have won and will be awarded a soul.
Agreed.
But isn't it fun kids that we have established triggered Battle Resolution steps? We also have ongoing effects for Battle Resolution steps: dominants are restricted from being played.
