Proposal to stop infinite recursion

Time to get serious.  I'd like to offer a proposal for the Elders to think about to stop the instances of infinite recursion that have occurred over the past few years.  Let's be honest.  Everyone has blamed specific cards and abilities when really the issue is infinite recursion is possible based on the current ruleset.  Furthermore, the issue has been confined to Type 2 with one or two exceptions.  Several major rule changes and erratas have occurred which impact all categories, not just Type 2.  I'd really like to repeal the special rules and erratas.  I believe I have a solution.

First, let's take a look at some of the major rule changes and erratas that would no longer be needed:
1. Hand size limit of 16 - to limit deck drawing recursion
2. Side battle limit - to limit endless turn
3. One RA per turn limit - to limit endless RAs
4. Sin in the Camp errata - to stop any "no fun" games
5. A New Beginning erratas - to stop endless turns and RAs
6. others I may be unaware of at this moment...

The rules currently limit the number of cards in the draw phase: 3.  The rules currently make use of counters.

My proposal is to establish a rule that limits the number of cards played during a player's turn

I'm just an idea guy.  I'll leave the details to the Elders.  But here are some ideas that I've tossed around:
 - Counters could be used.
 - A player could start with a certain number of counters during the draw phase.
 - Players would have to reduce the number of counters for each card played.
 - The limit could be applied to the entire turn or maybe just the battle phase.
 - One counter per card played; maybe two counters per dominant played.
 - All players refresh counter limit for each players' draw phase (this allows for both a smaller limit and is more condusive for multiplayer.)

Besides being able to simplify the rules by repealing many specialized rules and erratas, the proposed rule would add another level of strategy to the game.

I'll go ahead and comment that my first impression is that this would actually add complexity to the game at a time when we are trying to simplify it.  At the same time I understand your point that it would remove the need for some specialized rules, and thus also simplify the game some.

However, the specialized rules only come up occasionally (and usually among very experienced players), while having a certain number of cards that you are allowed to play each turn would be something that EVERYONE would have to start keeping track of EVERY game.  That is why I think the overall effect would be a more negative play experience.

Thanks for thinking outside the box though, and perhaps other elders will like this idea more than I do.  Or perhaps after more thought, I'll come around to the idea.  But I just wanted to share my first thoughts so you wouldn't think your idea was being ignored :)
