Immune vs. Ignore

Michael starts a battle, is defended by Emperor Nero "Character is immune to lone Heroes.  Only a rescue attempt of 2 or more Heroes can be successful."  If Michael plays Spiritual Warfare "Hero ignores all human Evil characters."  I know this is probably an rock, paper, scissors issue, but I don't know the outcome.

From the REG under Ongoing Abilities -> Ignore or Repel ->Special Conditions

•      A stalemate results when an ignore card is played after and against an immunity card (e.g., Mary plays Compassion of Jeremiah when blocked by Red Dragon.  However, if the ignore card is played before the immunity card, the ignore will win.  In other words, a character can’t become immune to a character that is already ignoring that character.  Conversely, a character that is already immune continues to be immune even if ignored.  Therefore, the result is a stalemate.

Eh, it's as much the ability as the timing.  If one player played an ignore first, the other player could not play an ignore because he's already being ignored.

Nero has immunity which means that while he's protected, the Hero is still vulnerable.  The Hero can play the ignore to keep himself from being hurt but that's the only effect it has between the two of them.

If both players played immune, it would be a stalemate no matter what, going first would not matter.

Wait, I thought in that whole targeting discussion it was said that Ignore only targets the character(s) using the ability? If this is the case, then how would that stop your ignored opponent from ignoring you right back?

Yes, ignore can be interrupted (assuming you have a character in battle to play an interrupt on).

The "you don't stop me from winning the battle" part of ignore targets the blocking evil characters.  If they are immune, that part of ignore does not work and the end result is basically mutual immunity.
