Decrease VS JIP?

Query:

Opponent plays Hunger then plays JIP. Does the interrupt the battle stop hunger's ongoing decrease?

Hunger
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Black • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: All Heroes of one opponent decrease 6/6 for remainder of turn. If result is */0 or less, discard Hero. • Play As: All Heroes of one opponent decrease 6/6 for remainder of turn. Heroes of other players are uneffected. If result is */0 or less, discard Hero. • Identifiers: None • Verse: Lamentations 4:9 • Availability: Prophets booster packs (Rare)

Joseph in Prison
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Black • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Interrupt the battle and remove all cards in battle from the game. • Identifiers: None • Verse: Genesis 39:20 • Availability: Patriarchs booster packs (Ultra Rare)

‘Interrupt the battle’ interrupts all active ongoing abilities on characters and enhancements (e.g. Red Dragon), abilities that are causing you to lose the battle by removal (e.g. King Zimri), as well as the last enhancement played in the current battle if it was played by your opponent.  Interrupting the battle interrupts the battle flow at the point where you played the interrupt.  It does not send you back to the beginning of the battle and does not include special abilities completed prior to the interrupt being played that are no longer pending.

These cards increase or decrease the ability (strength and toughness) of characters in a prescribed way.  The increase or decrease is a fixed number.  Some cards may affect more than one character.  The increase or decrease lasts until the end of the battle unless specified otherwise (i.e. end of turn).  After the battle, the characters not discarded in battle return to the territory with their original ability.  See Greater Worth on page 5 for cards that increase at a variable rate, the rate dependent on other conditions.

Sure seems like that decrease is "ongoing"

I think it would depend on if the temporary decrease from hunger is considered an ongoing ability. I'm not really sure myself if it is or not though.

Hey,

Yes, Joseph in Prison does stop the decrease from Hunger.  Increase/Decrease abilities are ongoing if: (1) they have a specified duration (that is not "for the rest of the game") or (2) they are dynamically conditional.  Hunger specifies a duration (for remainder of turn) so it is ongoing and is interrupted by Joseph in Prison.
