How does this card work? i get it's special ability, but it's identifier says "Holds any number of captured humans" does this make them basically unrescuable, as hey are no longer in land of baondage, or is it like raiders camp, where they are released instead of rescued?

It's a fortress that doesn't specific how contents enter or leave so you can take out or put in any number of captured humans during your prep. I'm 99% sure they are unrescuable while there but someone can confirm that.

It's unique in that, unlike RC where you have to release the captured heroes if your opponent's RA succeeds, the captured heroes remain in the fortress indefinitely. So it's an added benefit to the controller of the fortress in that captured characters don't need to be given up as redeemed souls as they normally would be if they were rescued from the general land of bondage.

I used HP in one of my decks but I ended up switching it out with Alexandrian Ship as I found the ship used the captured characters more usefully by generating souls in my opponent's LoB. The trade off was not having HP's special ability, but I was only using one Herod anyways in my defense so the SA wasn't all that useful.

Does it though?  I think you wouldn't be able to take a character out of a site?

What do you mean by clogged up?  You can only put one soul in this site.  And Herod's Dungeon is good for a quick battle winner.  I use this in that deck I mentioned earlier, along with Alexandrian Ship.

I mean being able using it over and over again. Your herod's withdraw all of their guys except one, and you then capture it with dungeons for instant win. but, you need to get that captured character out so you can use this strategy later. alexandrian ship might be a better option, but herod's praetorium is good too, especially because you probably wont have any centurions or egyptians apart from the rebel. My point is, this, and Alexandrian ship, both allow you to use herod's dungeon over an over, so you don't have to use something like rash oath or salome. instead.

I use a combination of gold ECs (Egyptians, herods, Herod-related, etc) in this deck so Alex Ship works well with it. If you're not using any centurions or Egyptians then it makes total sense just to use Herod's Pr.

How do you plan on removing the captured hero from Herod's Dungeon to use the site again?

By putting it in HP. The reason you can't just use HD on loop normally is that there's no mechanic for removing Lost Souls from sites once they're in them by normal game action. However, when you have HP, which allows you to move a captured character there, you can move the captured character from HD as there is similarly no rule preventing you from targeting Captured Characters in sites for whatever.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Hmm, I didn't realize you could move a lost soul/captured character once it was in a site unless an ability specifically said you could.

Good to know, then.
