Hidden Treasures versus Uzzah

This might be because I don't understand the timing of Hidden Treasures correctly, so please be patient with me.

Say Paul makes a rescue attempt with Hidden Tresures activated.  Opponent wants to block with his Uzzah for obvious reasons.  Does Paul get to play his enhancement before he is even blocked by anyone, or after Uzzah is played?  If it is "before", then I'm fairly certain that playing "Blessings" would stop Uzzah's special ability from happening.

But if it is "after" being blocked, then what happens?  Can Paul play Blessings after Uzzah does what he does to negate what Uzzah did?

Thanks for your help.

Hidden Treasures allows you to play an enhancement before the opponent even blocks, so no, he would not be allowed to put uzzah in battle before HT activates.

*EDIT*

However, your question WOULD apply to The Throne of David, which must wait for an opponent to block. I would like to know if you could play a card after Uzzah blocks using a card like TToD as well.

I believe you can because you were blocked.

ok, with HT, Lambo is correct. with TToD, I would say you are not able, because the blocker's ability completes and the blocker is gone.

But, when the evil character is gone, the battle is not instantly over. Otherwise, you would not be able to extend the battle with Unknown Nation, Madness, Site Guard LS, or Gates of Hell.

Or an Angel holding Angel's sword too (on the TTOD question).

Has your purple brigade king been blocked? Yes.
Do any EC's in battle have weapons? No.
Are the conditions for being able to play an OT purple enhancement being met? Yes.

So, what's the problem?

This is a similar question to whether POC gets to search for a good dominant after being blocked by Zimri who suicides and is no longer there in battle (or PoC for that matter).  This has already been ruled "yes, he does", and therefore the same principle should apply here.

TToD is waiting for a "block" to trigger itself.  As soon as Uzzah enters battle, that trigger is set off.  The effect of that trigger won't happen until after Uzzah finishes activating his own special ability, but without an interrupt, the effect WILL happen.  Therefore, after Uzzah is gone and the LSs are protected, then a purple king could draw cards and play an enhancement off of TToD.

Couldn't the purple hero also play Unified Kingdom and band in a FBTN hero, and negate the LS protection, as its an ongoing ability?

It's an ongoing ability, but one on a character who is discarded, so I think not.

You should still be able to negate an ongoing ability even if the character is not in battle anymore.

Also, what would happen if you banded in a hero like Ehud? Could you pick a new blocker and continue the fight?

Yeah, but only with a card that specifically negates things in d/c, right?

A FBTN card should negate an ongoing ability, regardless of where the card is... if I'm not mistaken.

If the card said "negate special abilities on characters [in play]," then I wouldn't think so...

Now you're getting into new territory, but I can't think of any reason why this wouldn't work.

I think BB is correct on this.  I get a bit confused myself about which negates can reach out of play, but I think it is only "negate last" cards that can do that.  A regular FBN character entering battle would negate abilities of characters and enhancements in play, but I don't think it would negate the ongoing protection from a discarded Uzzah.

But once you are in the discard pile (after you give the person a chance to negate it) there's nothing you can do to negate it is there? That would be like me playing Unholy Writ and after its gone and done then the person plays destruction and negates it it doesnt work

If this happened, all lost souls would be protected from rescue when Ehud joins the battle.  So it would be just like starting a battle challenge with Ehud, right?  What happens then?  Does your opponent have to block?

What would be REALLY cool would be playing Ezekiel's Stick to bring in Cherubim, who brings in ET, then play Primary Objective.  What happens when PO is played after Uzzah has kamikaze'd?

Well, I know that Uzzah stops even Son of God from rescuing souls, so I imagine PO would be stopped as well.
