Making a new deck on RTS and I came apond a question.

If I put evil advice on the Two liner and they rescue 1/2 of it, does it still counts as rescuing the lost soul?

Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Grey • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Place this card on a Lost Soul. Proverbs 22:14 (‘2-line Lost Souls’)

It does not count as a rescue by the REG's definition:

REG > Glossary > Rescue
"Rescue
This action frees a Lost Soul being held prisoner in theLand of Bondage. A Lost Soul becomes rescued when it is placed in the Land of Redemption. All rescued Lost Souls are taken to the Land of Redemption."

I'm pretty sure the 2-liner's use of 'rescue' can be blamed on old wording, but if it really is a rescue, the REG entry needs to be rewritten.

Since the 2-Liner says "must be rescued twice," I would think when they rescue half of it, it counts as one of the two rescues. However the REG says (Glossary of Terms/Rescue): "A Lost Soul becomes rescued when it is placed in the Land of Redemption." This seems to me like a contradiction to the way the 2-Liner is played.

My gut would say no, not only for the reason that SK gave (it has to reach the Land of Redemption to be considered rescued), but also because all cards revert to face value once they are put back into your hand or back into the deck. So if it did count as a rescue, then Lost Souls would actually count as three Lost Souls after reverting back to face value (since it would require two more rescues to rescue it).

There is a long-working combo of using the shuffler to shuffle a 'half-rescued' Lost Souls into the draw pile. Since it is reset in the draw pile, it is as if it was never rescued once, and can thus be rescued twice when it re-enters play.

The Lost Souls card must be rescued twice. In order to be rescued twice it has to first be rescued once. The first rescue (or half or whatever you want to call it) counts as a rescue for cards like Evil Advice and Altar of Ahaz. That REG entry needs to be updated.

Sort of. What the REG says is true for all Lost Soul cards, for which the Lost Souls card is the lone exception.

My first thought was refining the definition to the condition of a successful rescue attempt when you do your Battle Resolution. I just feel like I might be breaking something else if I do that, and am not remembering it at this exact moment.

What if half of that two liner is resuced and the player has guardian? Do they still get that LS or is it gone when shuffled?

GoYS only protects souls from Falling Away, and only if they are in your Land of Redemption. A half-rescued 2-liner being shuffled isn't protected since it doesn't meet those conditions.
