Couple of new questions
« on: August 11, 2014, 01:56:05 PM »

As this continues to grow and add more questions, I'll be updating the first post!

1)  So The False Prophet is considered a prophet, but does not have the identifier of Magician.  Is he a magician?  yes!

2)  Philip the Evangelist has the identifier Samaria, does this mean he qualifies as a Samaritan?  He does not count as a Samartian

3)  Is Scroll of Isaiah considered OT or NT?  Both

4)  If Matthias is in Fishing Boat and Judas comes into play what happens?  Matthias is no longer considered part of X for fishing boat and the beginning of you next turn he is "kicked out" of it

5)  Does the territory class enhancement on Heroes mean that it activates in territory and battle?  Yes

6)  In type 1, can I choose to just release a captured hero instead of give up a LS with Herod's Sentries?  Yes

Phillip the Evangelist is not a samaritan, but he was involved in the creation of the church in Samaria

I think that the false prophet should be a magician, personally. He did do "miracles" in Revelation, drawing from the power of the Beast.

I would say NT. the context is it is the scroll being read. so I would say just NT.

What happens if Matthias is placed into Fishing Boat, and then Judas Iscariot enters play? I don't think we've ever had a card with a conditional identifier before.

The answer is both.  It has both references.

What happens if Matthias is placed into Fishing Boat, and then Judas Iscariot enters play? I don't think we've ever had a card with a conditional identifier before.

The ruling currently appears to be that he stays in boat if already there, but will not count as a Disciple present for the X.

What about if you have a Gold judge in a fortress, and than use Angel With the secret name to exchange with that judge? I allways thought he get's kicked out, but based on this is that not the case?

I thought we had a rule about characters being in Forts they aren't supposed to be (non-Disciple in Boat, AutO in Judge's Seat) where they got kicked out during the next phase (or maybe next prep phase).

So if I have Jair in Seat, I attack with AutO and exchange to Jair, AutO stays there until my next prep phase where he is automatically removed.

So I'm good with Drrek's answer with Philip (was hoping for something different) but the Magician question was never answered.  It was stated that is should be.

I believe we discussed The False Prophet being a magician during playtesting and the idea was considered to make him Orange/Crimson/Pale. However, the decision was made to keep him as just a Heretic and not a Magician for identifier purposes.

If by identifier purposes, you mean you didn't want to make a heretic/magician? Well, you already did that with Simon the Magician...

EDIT: Oops, sorry. Forgot False Prophet didn't have pale green and Simon does...

OK, I knew that we were doing some game play where some Magicians weren't pale green but still had the identifier, I didn't know if that was the case with him.

New question!

So I'm guessing if a Character has the Territory class symbol that means their ability activates in territory (and battle)?

Why not keep the Magician identifier, but not make him Pale Green?

Several new Prophets have been introduced who are not part Green.

While still hoping for a follow up on False Prophet, and another question.

Herod's Sentries:

Captured characters cannot be rescued unless an angel is in play.  If a captured character is rescued, release it instead.

Does this mean in Type 1 with an angel in play I can just release a captured hero instead of letting them rescue a LS?  I think the answer is obviously yes with the "instead" ability, but clarity is a great thing!

Can you add an Apprehended face down evil character any time in battle or just at the beginning?

Capture a human Hero and place an Evil Character from hand face down on it.  During a rescue attempt of that Hero, you may add the Evil Character to battle.

Regarding The False Prophet, what makes him a magician? I checked our classifications and I don't see that we've classified the old version as a magician. If there is good cause to consider him a magician I'm all for it.

Herod's Sentries:

Captured characters cannot be rescued unless an angel is in play.  If a captured character is rescued, release it instead.

Yes. He's like a mini Raider's Camp.

Can you add an Apprehended face down evil character any time in battle or just at the beginning?

Capture a human Hero and place an Evil Character from hand face down on it.  During a rescue attempt of that Hero, you may add the Evil Character to battle.

"During" is the key word to answer your question. As long as the rescue attempt is taking place you can add the EC to battle.

I think that False Prophet should be a magician for two reasons.
1.) He summoned Demons- "13 Then I saw three impure spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet."
2.) He performed signs for The Beast- "But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur."
Both of these references are from Revelation. the first is from ch. 16 and the second is ch. 19.

Yes.

===So does that mean I place that T/C character down and his special ability is automatically "turned on?" I don't haveta place him in battle to "turn on" his special ability and then it would continue in territory (like Judas Isc)?

As soon as the character hits the table it's ability begins and continues to activate regardless of entering battle as far as I know.

Covenant with Death is active and I set a TC Hero into play. My opponent deactivates CwD the following turn. When will my hero's ability become active? Is it constantly checking for activation, or is it like a TC Enhancement that can be activated only during your prep/battle/discard phase?

I would assume that if it's an ongoing ability, then it activates when CwD is deactivated.

So just to confirm, TC characters are an exception to the "once prevented, always prevented" nature of other characters? Do they "activate" every phase like Arts/Forts?

Would it be once it's deactivated or the phase after it's deactivated?

Right. That's what makes sense to me anyway.

I haven't been on the boards a lot for the several months preceding Nas, so I don't recall if the discussion about ongoing abilities activating once they are no longer negated was resolved, but it has always been my stance that when a prevented ongoing ability steps being prevented, that ability would kick in. I believe the example was Moses is blocked by PotW (Wa) and at some point PotW plays Confusion of Mind, then PotW would be immune. Is there a resolution to that that has been posted anywhere?

If that has been resolved, then TC characters should function similarly, if it hasn't, then that is just my stance on both issues.
