Are cards placed on cards that are placed in Sites or Fortresses considered the contents of that Site or Fortress? Namely:

Goshen • Good Fortress • Holds any number of Heroes of up to three brigades • Protect contents from all effect.

Are cards placed on Heroes in Goshen protected from all effect?

Very good question--not sure if that's been established.

My first thought is that "contents" only refers to things that are there by means of the identifier--in the case of Goshen, the Heroes. If I had to make an on the spot ruling that's how I would rule.

As silly as it seems, when you imagine a protect Fortress being a physical 4 walls that a person holding a sword is standing inside of and the fact that you can somehow get rid of the sword without touching the person directly or being inside the walls yourself, I would agree with Guardian.

Man.

How in blue blood burns blue is anyone supposed to be able to hold on to the Armor for longer than five seconds with things like Ashtaroth Worship, King's Pomp, and every third evil card from Cloud of Witnesses skulking around?

Regarding the original question, I agree with The Guardian. Kingdoms of the World (while worded differently) has never protected the weapons or artifacts placed on and held by characters that reside on it. I believe Goshen is just a shorter way of saying essentially the same thing.

How in blue blood burns blue is anyone supposed to be able to hold on to the Armor for longer than five seconds with things like Ashtaroth Worship, King's Pomp, and every third evil card from Cloud of Witnesses skulking around?

It's not supposed to be easy to obtain and keep a super warrior on the table. A well built deck can have plenty of tools to hinder those counters and get the armor back though.

The only thing I have ever come up with against the two old Enhancements was Epaphroditus, and even that needed a missionary in play, meaning I needed missionaries, which none of the sweet Red/Clay NT Warriors are.
As for the new Cloud of Witnesses stuff, if there is a plausible response, I have yet to think of one.

Sorry to sound so frustrated. It's just that the Armor is a slow, painstaking strategy, but one with a massive payoff. I absolutely love the idea and the ultimate execution. It's some of the finest game design I've ever seen, and it involves one of my favorite metaphors ever. But every "discard an Enhancement in play" ability I see makes the dark cloud hanging over the plausibility of the cards grow ever darker.

Armor of God can set up really fast. Soldier of God can get Christian Soldier who can get a piece of armor for you. If setting up quickly is your thing then A Soldier's Prayer helps with that quite a bit. Music Leader can pull it out of your deck or discard pile every time your opponent does something they naturally want to do to keep up with you. Claudia and Fortress of Antonia speed out your characters making your setup quicker as well.

If you don't want the opponent to play evil territory class Enhancements, Covenant with Death will stop them but you don't want to activate it until you've set up your armor since it also stops you from playing territory class. As you mentioned Epaphroditus is also an option. At the very least Peter (a missionary) belongs in every clay deck. I hear the new Moses is good but he presents the same problem as CwD so you have to play him after your set up the AoG.

Both Moses and the FBTN Lost Soul present a quick solution to the new "Destruction" Lost Soul. You can also play Son of God (I or J) on it the phase it's used to negate it and get your armor back.

The new Coliseum Lions will be an absolute pain if Coliseum is active. That's by design. But there are ways to get around it if you're savvy.

I've only brushed the surface with some of the most common and reliable ways to help with the problems you've presented. There are also cards that punish people for playing multiple brigades, so if you have a friend who insists on using King's Pomp against you then you might look into which of those will punish him the most.

Admittedly, I was familiar with most of the things you have suggested, Gabe. The problem with Christian Soldier is that you get one Enhancement at a time, and while this is fine for most strategies, the Armor is not all that great until you have them all together, or at least most of them. And that will usually take a while. I use Claudia, and I use Fortress of Antonia- heck, I even threw in a Cornelius side project to band Claudia, Cornelius, and Peter together for when something happened to the Armor.
Speaking of which, I actually didn't know that Peter was a missionary. I thought he should be, but it didn't show up on his in-print identifiers. I know that unprinted identifiers has been a thing forever, but I thought the newer cards would have been a little more thorough...

Aaaahhh, I dunno. Maybe I'm complaining about nothing. Maybe I just got spoiled by the sheer efficiency of my angels, where every individual card was scary, so that when I have a whole offense aimed at building up a six-card combo that can be shattered by multiple single cards a little too easily, I got a little frustrated.

The REG is a great resource if you're ever wondering who qualifies for certain identifiers. If you scroll down to page 3 there are links to the glossary for each letter of the alphabet. You can find all kinds of cool stuff like:

Quote
The following Heroes are considered missionaries:
Apollos (Ap), Apollos (TEC) Aquila (Ap), Aquila (TEC), Barnabas (UL), Barnabas (B), Barnabas (D), Barnabas (TEC), John (Pr), John (P), John (H), John (I), Luke (Ap), Luke (TEC), Mark (L), Mark (UL), Mark (D), Mark (TEC), Paul (when converted from Saul) (Ap), Peter (Ap), Peter (I), Peter (TEC), Philip the Evangelist (Ap), Philip the Evangelist (TEC), Priscilla (Ap), Priscilla (H), Priscilla (TEC), Silas (L), Silas (UL), Silas (D), Silas (TEC), Timothy (Ap), Timothy (H), Timothy (TEC), Titus (Ap), a nd T itus (EC)
Unfortunately they don't all have the missionary identifier printed on them. That's a long story that I won't get into right now.

I've played Armor of God quite a bit this past year, a little in T1 but mostly in T2. It's an amazingly strong and fast offense. We felt like the game needed counters to Armor of God and Fruit of the Spirit Enhancements in Cloud of Witnesses. Both are easy to get out of the deck and easy to get back once discarded so the counters only slow them down, not stop them entirely.

While I've been on the frustrating end of taking a beatdown from an AoG deck several times, I absolutely love the way it works because it parallels real life so well. If we have the armor, the enemy has to take out that first before he can get to us.  8) If we don't have the armor, we're just easy targets for his fiery darts.  :o

I assume that I am correct still that a Joshua taking a Site would not also take its contents but return them to owner's hand?
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Lost Souls don't follow Sites unless otherwise specified. Everything else does. During a PT game I took Justin's Damascus that happened to be holding RBD. He wasn't pleased.
