Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Brown • Ability: 6 / 6 • Class: None • Special Ability: Negate all special abilities on opponent’s Heroes. You may exchange a Hero in battle with a Hero in opponent’s territory. • Identifiers: Generic OT Genderless Human • Verse: Numbers 11:1 • Availability: Faith of Fathers

If i have a 6/6 green hero in battle and complainers enters battle and tries to exchange that hero for a 1/1 hero of a different color can i inturrupt with a green inturrupt/negate?

I disagree. Since the Complainers' ability has to complete before you can have the initiative to play an interrupt, then it seems to me that you can only play a card on the new hero that is brought into battle, whatever brigade color that hero is.

its been ruled in the past that if the new hero is losing by the numbers that the SA putting him into battle is acting like a kill card and you can negate it with the character being pushed out of battle, like any other kill card that pushed a character out of battle

really?  this is first I have ever heard of that, so in a similar scenario, they can negate a choose the blocker card with the original ec?

If the new EC has initiative, yes.

That is correct (actually, this exact question was just asked a few days ago)

Because you are not losing the battle by an ability, you do not get init to negate until after the ability.  Whenever a new hero or evil character is chosen, you must negate with the new color, not the old one.

This is how I thought it worked, you can not interrupt in the middle of an ability, all abilities must complete, once complainers completes the new character is in battle.  only he can negate it

REG > Choose Blocker or Rescuer > How to Play
Quote
“Choosing” the character means not choosing all the character(s) that are currently in battle; they all leave and are replaced by the character you choose.  Characters leaving battle may not return to the battle that turn with the exception that the choosing player may select one character just removed and put it back in battle..  The character selected can come from any territory in the field of play or from your hand unless stated otherwise.  The effect may be interrupted or negated by the character(s) being removed if your opponent gains initiative because of the exchange.

I'm not sure how this applies in this case, since Complainers isn't a CTR card.

then how does that work with kill cards? if you play a kill card against someone and the ability completes then you have no one left to negate it with, you have to interupt the ability before it completes to negate it right?

but the exchange isn't resulting in a "kill" situation, it is resulting in a "losing" situation, they are two different abilities.

so then a card like temptation you would ahve to negate with the new hero?

temptation: all male heros must withdraw from battle, opponent must place a female hero into battle or rescue fails

a "losing" situation does not result in initiative by removal.  A "kill" situation does.

That is an interesting question.  Because this card allows you to choose whether you place or lose, it is slightly different.  I really have no clue.

If your character is being removed in any manner, you can interrupt on the character being removed IF you gain initiative. It doesn't matter how you are being removed. The key is whether or not you gain initiative in the removal.

If you end up getting a bigger character for the one being removed, you are likely not going to get initiative. That would prohibit you from negating the removal (or swap).

i remember it was ruled with gold shield that if a hero in battle is converted to a different color, that hero could not use an interrupt of his old color to interrupt gold shield. would that ruling somehow relate to this?

That can't be right, Gold shield wouldn't give you inish and you would already be the new brigade, so you wouldn't be able to use your old brigade.

If you are converted to another brigade of the SAME alignment, you aren't being removed. You continue the battle as you did before - but have to play a different brigade enhancement. See the difference?
