Title: Clarification ...
Post by: Korunks on September 24, 2009, 10:14:22 AM
Situation:  I have three lost souls 2 in gold sites one not, they R.A. without their Dragon Raid(though it is in play).  I Block, lose the battle, but burial my lost soul not in a site, they lose access.  Could they add the Dragon Raid at that point to gain access?

Quoth the Rule Book Page 13 , Section Site Access, letter C
Quote
c) An unoccupied site is placed in battle with the Hero and
the icon box on the unoccupied site contains a matching
brigade color in the icon box of the occupied site. The unoc-
cupied site can be added at any time during the battle, but it
must come from the player’s territory. If the Hero is
defeated in battle, the site returns to the owner’s territory.
The special ability on a multi-colored site is active only
when the site is in battle and being used to give a Hero
access to a site.

If they had added it would be a legal move correct?

Once you've determined you lost the battle then you give up a soul immediately, no time to play Burial. You have to play Burial before the battle's over; at that point, the rescuer can add Dragon Raid, gaining access, and then the blocker can decide if he's lost.

Oh wait, I mean...

Yes.

I realize that I should have said I was currently losing the battle, but Hadn't surrendered the lost soul (ie battle was still ongoing).

Thanks I'll share that with him so he can do that next time.

I don't think this is right.

According to this thread, (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/index.php?topic=17583.msg277433#msg277433) a multi-colored site must be in play before being added to a battle to gain access.  And in a recent game, my opponent looked it up in the REG and agreed.

That thread was mostly about site color's.  They also stated that you can add the site into battle if it was in play before the battle began(which it is in this case) and no one disagreed.  I am failing to see the reason for saying that this incorrect?

He said that Dragon Raid was in play, just not in battle. If somehow (like Burial) you lose access during the battle, you may add a site from your territory to regain access. The only thing you can't do is add it from hand.

Oops, missed that.  In that case, I agree that DR could be added :)

FWIW, as a Site-Deck player I've never liked that rule..... You can't just choose to add another character to battle without a special ability... why a site?
