Title: Choose the Blocker mid battle
Post by: Jmbeers on May 25, 2012, 12:33:29 PM
What happens with there choose the blocker ability when Ehud or Asahel is brought into battle half way through with Debra's Directive or Battle cry?

Will it remove the priveous character from battle or is the CTB limited to the beginning of the battle? Or would it just add an evil character to battle?

Last I heard, all blocking evil characters would be removed from battle, and the rescuer would choose who blocks.

This thread has a REG quote. (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/ruling-questions/withdraw-question/?topicseen)

How woul this change with banded blockers? Would it change with a CBI/N band?

All the blockers that are in battle when the CTB character is added would be pushed out of battle. It's not negating anything, so it wouldn't matter if it was a CBI/N band.

Agreed.  Unless a card specifies a certain number of characters to be punted, a CTB (or CTR) punts everyone and you choose.

And i assume that the enhancment(s) that were interrupted get pushed back and discarded even if a character of the same brigade as the enhancements was was brought into battle right?

No, no Enhancements were exactly Interrupted/negated at all. The numbers just won't affect the battle if a Character from another brigade. No Enhancements are Discarded or thrown back to hand if a Character is as far as I understand, Im not 100% sure though...

yeah that is were iam confused too. Lets say i am rescuing and my opponent plays wrath of satan, which targets all heroes in play, if i deborahs directive into all heroes availiable with ehud aswell and use his effect to "push back and pull in" what happens to wrath? Since the character it was played on is pushed back and wrath isnt weapon class does wrath effect go through when another character is brought in?

This is a completely different case.  In this case, you interrupted Wrath, and it must reactivate after the interrupt completes.  Here are the rules for reactivation after an interrupt:

Quote
In order to reactivate the suspended abilities, the following conditions must be met:

the card on which the ability exists must still be in battle

if the ability is on an enhancement there must still be a character in battle on which it can activate

the ability was not prevented while it was interrupted

the targets of the ability are still legal targets

Bolded the important part.  If the character brought in by Ehud cannot play Wrath, then it fizzles.
