Choose the blocker mid-battle

If my opponent plays Obedience of Noah to choose the blocker mid-battle, and I already had in Gomer banded to Saducees banded to High Priest Ananias, what happens if they choose Gomer as the 'new' blocker? Does Gomer's ability re-activate to allow the same band, or is Gomer alone?

On a semi-related note, if I have Ezra banded to King Jehoshaphat, Ezra is forced to retreat from battle, can Battle Cry bring him back in? Or is it a once you're out, you're out kind of thing?

Thanks!
Ken

For the first one, I think that either you can't choose Gomer or a character in battle or that their ability doesn't activate but I'm leaning towards that you can't choose them because since she's unique. For the second one you wouldn't be able to bring Ezra back in because he's already been in battle.

From the REG under Default Conditions for Choose Opponent,

"The character targeted to be presented must come from the hand of the player using the choose opponent ability or from a territory."

So Gomer cannot be selected since she was already in battle.

Somewhat related question regarding the last part of your question:

If Gomer is replaced with a proper EC, would Sadducees still remain in battle, since Gomer's band cannot be negated? Or does CtB still get rid of Sads since it is not trying to negate the band? I've always treated this situation as Gomer having a CBN "add to battle" ability, that CtB cannot undo.

I'm fairly certain that both the Choose The abilities are a combination of withdraw and present, with the withdraw targeting all characters on that side of the battle.

I agree with that, and if anyone is not able to withdraw, no one can be presented.

Oh, well that makes sense. I guess I never read the CtB entry, since it says as much. Thanks!  :D
