Prtection of Jerusalem

Place in your territory: Protect your good O.T. Fortresses from opponents. When you discard an evil Assyrian from play, you may negate and discard an evil card.

2 questions:

1. Does Protection of Jerusalem protect set-aside fortresses like Chamber of Angels?
2. What type of Assyrian discards allow for you to negate and discard an evil card? (ex. if my Assyrian is discarded as result of a battle with my opponent...)

1.) No
2.) You have to be the one causing the discard.  SwaLC, Grapes, etc.  If your opponent's hero defeats your Assyrian, it doesn't count.

That's what I thought, just wanted confirmation. Thank you.

just to clarify, the reason Protection of J doesn't protect D&A, Chamber, ect, is that all abilities default to play.
