Title: Capture Clarification
Post by: Praeceps on May 09, 2013, 10:00:07 PM
This is listed in the Capture entry:

Quote
Captured non-human characters are not Lost Souls. Rather, they are captured characters, which still retain their alignment (good or evil). Therefore, a non-human cannot be rescued and scored as a redeemed soul.

If my opponent wins a battle and the only thing in my land of bondage is a captured angel, what happens?

I believe that they would stay there and you'd have won a battle challenge, otherwise you rescue them but it doesn't count.

You can't rescue the angel just like you can't rescue a demon, so the angel stays in the LoB as a captured character.

This raises a question for me....along those lines.  Are all captured humans treated as Lost Souls?  For example, cap Isaiah and then opponent rescues the Shuffler.  Does Isaiah stay in LOB as capped character or does he get shuffled into owner's deck along with all LS's in play?

Captured characters are treated as lost souls, except they can also be target as captured characters and non-human captured characters can't be captured, but they are shuffled by things like the shuffler.

Actually, captured non-humans are not Lost Souls, and cannot be targeted as such. They can be targeted as good/evil cards in a territory. But if Shuffler is rescued, captured non-humans just hang out in the LoB.

Huh. I've always played that you could redeem captured angels.

Learn something new every day.

The part about captured angels not being shuffled by DoU kinds of cards is certainly new. That would make Levi lots of fun if you can get a captured Genesis angel (like Angel at Shur) into your opponent's territory.

Trying to understand capture and after reading the above, I think I'm more confused; so I'm going to ask a few stupid questions extremely plainly so that even simple people like me can understand  :P:

1. If I capture a human hero, is it treated as a lost soul?

a) If so, is it put into LoR or back into your territory when rescued?

2. If I capture an Evil Character, is it treated as a lost soul?

a) If so, is it put into LoR or back into your territory when rescued?

3. When non-human heroes are captured, can they be rescued, but not treated as LS?

a) If so, where do they go?

4. When non-human evil characters are captured, can they be rescued, but not treated as LS?

a) If so, where do they go?

2. If I capture an Evil Character, is it treated as a lost soul?

4. When non-human evil characters are captured, can they be rescued, but not treated as LS?

a) If so, where do they go?

1. Yes, unless there is a place like Raider's Camp (it's a Fortress from Kings) that says there is an alternate place where the captured human Heroes go. If they are captured to a Land of Bondage (which is where they always go unless, like I said, a card like RC says otherwise) then they are treated as rescuable Lost Souls. The same goes for human Evil Characters.

a) When it is rescued, it goes to your Land of Redemption and counts as a point for you.

2. Same as above, as long as the EC is human.

a) Same as 1a.

3. When non-human characters (Heroes or ECs) are captured, they go to the Land of Bondage like all other captured characters, but they are not treated like Lost Souls. They are just treated as captured characters. They cannot be rescued.

a) As I said, they go to the Land of Bondage they are captured to.

4. See 3.

a) See 3a.

Hope that helps!
