If a card were to say.... "Discard an evil character of any brigade except crimson," Could I target self with it?

Just rule this the same way we do with ignoring or immune to multiple brigades.

And Zeal can discard both King Manasseh and Gomer. It's the same principle - it means you can discard a character that has a brigade other than crimson. Self has a brigade other than crimson.

If it was worded "Discard an evil character, except a Crimson character", that would be different.

Zadok Anoints would be a different scenario, because it says "With a brigade other than teal", this ability is "Except Crimson".

I agree, Self is every brigade at the same time, so he is also crimson brigade and can't be targeted by this.

Not 100% sure in Redemption rules, but based on grammatical rules "other than <brigade>," "not <brigade>," and "except <brigade>" are functionally the same.

I would rule that you could target Self, Philetus, The Winged Lion, <Edited by R.O.S.E.S>*, etc. with such a card, because they each have at least one brigade that is not Crimson.
