Ra Caleb with Adino's spear on him. *Immune to gold*
Block pot's wife( s.a. not relevant) to play ruthless (Negate and d/c last enh played, cbn).

Can ruthless kill Adino's spear since it was placed before battle?

Ruthless:
Negate and discard the last good Enhancement played this battle. Cannot be negated if used by an Egyptian.

I had mentioned this during our game, and the question is really whether a weapon-class enhancement is "played" or not.

I would concider it played.

When you enter battle with a lone hero (no weapon) you are consider as playing that card, when you are blocked it is considered playing that card. Which would explain why in mutual destruction the person who played the last enhancement has to pass the initiative.

In other words, if you attacked with a 8/7 hero and got blocked by a 7/8 evil character, it would be the hero's initiative because he played the last card. So I would assume when you entered with a battle with a weapon it would be considered played, since the hero is considered played.

If you can negate the last (good/evil) enhancement played outside of battle, that should extend to set-asides (would that be negatable?) and other enhancements (such as those played from Table of Showbread, which can't be negated).

Depending on whether or not you can negate set-asides, I'd sort of like to see it default to last played in battle, rather than just last played.

Issue, set asides never entered battle. Adino's spear did.

Yeah, weapons are the only ones that can be negated, but only if they were the last ones played.  Playing set-asides/from Table after placing a weapon would make all of the un-negatable by a negate last.

One issue - how long does "last" last?  If there are no LSs out and weapons and set-asides get played over the course of several turns, do you really have to remember what weapon you put down last 3 turns ago?

Negating the "last" enhancement is always tied to "played in current battle."  So, there is no reaspon to keep track of which enhancements were played in previous turns, etc.

As Scott said, it depends on whether a weapon played in the prep phase is also considered "played in battle" once it enters battle from territory.  I'd say the last good enhancement played in that battle is Adino's Spear.
