Hey guys,
Fairly new player asking a question about a game situation that came up recently. I'm using my Gen deck against my brother in law using pink and black defense. I was using Joe to RA and my opponent brought out HP Caiaphas to block. I enhanced Joe until Caiphas was losing. My brother in law put down the Stoning of Thebez enhancement (I think that's what the title was...can't quite remember). Anyway, the ability read "Regardless of protection discard Hero." Can he discard Joe using that card eventhough Joe says "Protect Joseph from discard"? Let me know. Thanks.
-
Yes, Joseph would be discarded.

So Jo isn't as tough as every one thinks he is....alright then....It was an interesting battle...we got into an argument...lol.. I said he can't and my BIL said yes he can....interesting.

He is very tough, but Stone of Thebes is an odd card. When something says "Regardless of...", no matter of that condition, the effect happens. These cards are not very prevalent (thankfully ;)).
Remember that his protection is not CBN, though. That is, the protection can be prevented, negated, or interrupted. So, a discard can affect him if one of these conditions happens:
1. His protection was prevented before the discard ability.
2. His protection was negated before the discard ability.
3. His protection was interrupted by a card that resolved in a discard ability before the protection reactivated.
4. Really random card appeared that said "Regardless of protection, discard...".
He's a pain though, don't worry :)

KoT is really effective against Joe....
....Unless he's wielding one of Genesis' many CBNs....

There's only one card in genesis that is cbn on Joe that can hit KoT, although there is another cbn genesis card that can search it out.
Edit: It seems I forgot a couple of cards, my bad

Pretty much anything Joe can play that's not Forgiveness will beat KoT.
-
Numerous as the Stars or that other search are CBN. Eve's Descendant is CBP (but that's not really used).
-
The problem isn't defeating Joe. A quick KoT/CM can kill him without problems. The issue is that the second time my opponent has recurred him, I'm usually out of CMs.
-
I'm usually out of CMs.
Usually? I always stock my deck with three or four, just in case.

Living dangerously there, are we? Do you often take those kinds of risks?
Personally I forgo the use of such antiquated items as "Evil Characters" or "Evil Enhancements" and just use a dozen or so Martyrs. This also avoids the moral issues behind playing the "evil" side...

or you can just play bab's and Iron Pan and all these silly and week "Protect" abilities just go away :)
except AUtO >:(

-
What is this "pink" defence that you speak of?
