Angel's Sword vs. King Ahab (RoA)

I was play testing when I came across this problem. I had Michael w/ Wheel and Angel's Sword and I just looked at my Opponent's Hand to see a Jezebel and really bad cards for me like Plot.

So I've been wondering:
If Michael w/ Angel's Sword goes to battle and is blocked by Jezebel and King Ahab, who plays first?

Angel's Sword
3/2 Silver Weapon Class Enhancement
If blocked by a Human EC, Hero may play First Enhancement

King Ahab
11/11 Brown WC EC
Search Deck for an Ot Evil Fortress. Negate green cards of strength 4/* or higher. If Jezebel is in battle, you may play an OT Brown EE

My gut says that the first card in battle goes, but I'm not sure...
They seem pretty lame as fighters maybe we should challenge them to a dance off or a redemption game

I agree. Michael should go first. Probably.

Since the playing of the evil enhancement is part of King Ahab's character ability, then Ahab would go first.  King Ahab is not considered blocking until his ability has completely resolved, including the optional playing of an evil enhancement.  So in this case, King Ahab would go first.  Otherwise the good enhancement would be inserting itself in another ability, and not even dominants can do that.

Confirm that the character, their weapon, and any other cards played as a result (such as from a play or band ability) must all complete BEFORE any other triggers (like on Angel's Sword) can activate.

Quote
The phrase “play the first enhancement” indicates a play an enhancement ability that takes effect as a response to the initial blocker(s) being presented.

In order for it to 'respond', it must wait for all abilities to complete.  Angel's Sword (and any other 'play first' abilities) cannot insert themselves between abilities.

In the example given, the EC blocks, D2, plays, then does whatever else happens as a result.  Once abilities stop, THEN an enhancement could be played.  This is a consistent ruling, and has been the case as long as I have been reading ruling threads and interpreting rules.

This is talking about weapons that allow an evil character to play an enhancement, and I think it will confirm that character abilities that allow the evil character to play the first enhancement will work the same way.

asrgimli is correct. Ahab is not finished until he plays a brown enhancement (if Jezebel is in battle) and Michael can not play off sword until after Ahab finishes.
Just one more thing...

This question comes up A LOT, for good reason since this can be confusing (especially to newer players), and thus I am adding it to the FAQ (currently question 19).

Please reference that post in the future to answer similar questions, thank you! :)
