1. is the EC protected from discarding itself?
2. are the lost souls still protected from rescue?

protecting the EC from itself is something thats still under debate I believe, but I know it'd protect the souls from it.
I personally still think thats stupid. Cards are protected from the ECs themselves, not the enhancements played on them. If you wanna make it like an immune ability, then just make everything immune to the ECs... Immune and Protect are listed separately for a reason, lol.

i was under the assumption that an EC cannot be protected from itself?

I recall that being the result as well, but idk if it ever got officially announced and if so, where.
