Angel of the Lord prevents removal from game?

If my opponent has one EC in battle vs my Hero, and he plays a card such as Mask of Pride to remove my character from the game, can I play angel of the lord on the EC that Mask of Pride was played on to prevent Mask of Pride's SA?

No.  You have to interrupt the ability removing you and Angel of the Lord doesn't do that.

The only way this would work is if you played a card like Swift Beings, which interrupts the battle and allows you to play the next enhancement, and you played Angel of the Lord before playing the next enhancement. Then his EC would be gone, the battle would continue, and Mask of Pride wouldn't conclude because there is no EC in play for it work.

PS: another way of looking at it is this way ... another card game I often play is Yugioh, and in the game, card effects have "speeds". A quick play effect is faster than a normal effect. Using this as an analogy, Mask of Pride and Angel of the Lord would be considered "normal" effects with the same speed. Because Mask of Pride is played first and then Angel of the Lord, Mask of Pride would resolve first followed by Angel of the Lord. However, Swift Beings, an interrupt effect, would be considered a "quick play" effect since it disrupts the normal speed of Mask of Pride and allows another effect to take place before it.

Actually you couldn't do that. You have to wait until Swift Beings is finished before you can play a Dominant like Angel of the Lord, and since it isn't finished until after you've played your enhancement (or elected not to) Mask of Pride is either negated or reactivates (or whatever we call it) you won't be able to play Angel of the Lord to make negate Mask of Pride.

It should be able to work because Dominants can be played at anytime regardless of turn or initiative. With the battle interrupted by Swift Beings, I could then opt to play Angel of the Lord before concluding Swift Beings effect of playing the next enhancement.

Dominants cannot be played at any time, they are unable to be played during the completion of other abilities.

In the example given of Swift Beings, the playing of an enhancement is the continuation of that ability; you may only do that ability, not play a Dominant.  Once it completes, the interrupt has ended, and thus you cannot Angel during the interruption.

This is also why you can't play angel of the Lord on a character holding an "interrupt the battle, play next" weapon until the next enhancement has been played. Supposing that character was protected in territory, once it enters battle, it's not protected. However, it's ability, and it's weapon's ability, as well as the enhanced played off the weapon must complete before you can play angel. You can't insert it into another ability while it's taking place.

In your example, instead of playing  angel, you could play an enhancement that discards evil your character, since that would happen inside the interrupt
