Recently I played a game with the starter decks I/J and have reached a weird situation as the decks contain a lot of "negate and discard last enhancement" enhancements.
The problem is:
1) Rescue attempt with a weak Hero
2) Block with a strong EC
3) Hero has initiative -> enhancement with numbers and some insignificant ability (draw, etc.) is played for the better numbers
4) EC has initiative -> an "negate and discard last good enhancement" enhancement is played (e.g. "Evil strength")
5) Hero has initiative: an "negate and discard last evil enhancement" enhancement is played (e.g. "Walking on water")
6) EC has initiative: "Twice Afflicted" is being played with the ability to play an enhancement from discard pile. Accidentally the "negate and discard last good enhancement" enhancement (e.g. "Evil strength") that was previously negated and discarded is played from the discard pile
Problem!!!
The evil enhancement played from the discard pile (e.g. "Evil strength") with the play ability of "Twice Afflicted (J)" negates it's own discarding!
An infinite loop happens!
The question is what to do now?
Possible solutions:
a) as the evil enhancement (played with the play ability from the discard pile) negates it's own discarding one more virtual instance of it comes back in the battle
b) the virtual instance doesn't come back in the battle but it's original ability (negate) is reactivated and negates it's original target
c) something else happens
So if there are some ruling experts here (and I know they are
), I would like to hear the official REG solution of this ruling puzzle
