Banding negation question

I block a hero with EC X who has a band ability, at which time I band to EC Y from territory. My opponent has initiative. He plays a non-interrupting, non-negating GE that simply allows him to draw X cards and play the next enhancement. He draws the cards and plays a GE that negates banding abilities.
My question is, does EC Y have to go back to my territory due to the band negation, or is the negation too late and should have been played as the first GE in order to negate banding? I know the GE also prevents future banding, but it's the undoing of my EC band two GEs later that I'm wondering about. I would say that the band stays and just prevents future banding in the battle phase, but I'm a little lost on the instantaneous ability of banding and negating so I need some clarification.
Thanks

I know that negate is interrupt and prevent, but where my confusion lies is how long after can a card still be negated. I always thought a negate had to be played immediately after in response to a special ability targeting something or else it didn't work (I'm not referring to special initiative either). So basically a card can be negated during the same phase even if several cards have been played since the original card that's being targeted for negate was played? For example, one of my two heroes in battle is underdecked. Four played enhancements later by both sides the battle is still raging and I have initiative and I decide to play a card that negates the card that underdecked my hero at the beginning of battle. This can be done since it's still in the same phase, even though it was much earlier in battle?
What if I banded in two musicians to start a rescue attempt, my opponent blocks and four played enhancements later I play Magnificat which negates special abilities on characters. Would now the special ability on the hero who has a band ability be negated and my second banded in hero have to be sent back to territory as a result, even though the band was completed way earlier in the battle? Aren't there differences in instant and on-going abilities, and the time of when an instant or on-going ability can be negated? I think this is where my confusion lies, this instant and on-going abilities issue.

yes and if you used something such as you will remain to add captain to the battle all 4 enhancements played would be negated

You may be thinking of "Interrupt the Battle". That targets a specific set of abilities, including all ongoing abilities. Other negates can hit anything, if it's a valid target.

Possibly. Probably a mix of that with how long after an ability can be negated.
