If my ec is discarded by numbers in battle, and I have 2 liner in hormah, can I add a counter to hormah for the ra then put it beneath deck? or would the redemption of a soul happen AFTER hormah is put beneath deck?

If I'm reading the order of effect in the REG correctly, then you must use Hormah in response to your EC being discarded.  Surrendering a soul is a whole step after the discard of the EC, and thus you should not be able to redeem the rescue then activate the ability from the discarding of your EC.

You can also use Uzzah and accomplish both effects, the block and the tuck under.
Just one more thing...

I think you could actually just throw the two-liner in hormah (with no rescues on it) die by numbers, put a counter on the two liner, then immediately put it under when Hormah activates.

*err misread a few of the posts... not sure if this is what was meant in the OP or not...*

The problem is whether or not he could use SoG and NJ to get 3 ls

In the case that you give half of the two liner and then hormah activates, I would say that there is no time in between for SoG to be played.

No, you cannot.  Battle resolution, including discarding EC, is a step.  After that step, you surrender a Lost Soul.  You cannot activate Hormah based on a discard that happened previously.  It must be resolved immediately on the discard, that is, before surrendering a soul.

However, if you gave them half of the Lost Souls card then AotL an EC in your own territory, their SoG/NJ could not interrupt Hormah.  They would be bottomed.
