AoTL, CM

So a battle ending in mutual destruction... the hero gets the ls, correct?

But, in this situation... no LS is awarded
Kid 1: I'll use AoTL, and kill your ec. woohoo, i win!
Kid 2: I'll use CM and kill your hero. woohoo, you don't!

I'm just wandering what the difference is, and why in one 'mutual destruction' scenario an LS is awarded and in another it is a successful block..? Is that a little inconsistent?

I'm sure there's a super obvious answer to this question, I'm just not redemption savvy enough to know it  ;D lol

There has to be a hero in battle when Battle Resolution begins in order to win the LS. In the case of Mutual Destruction, the hero is there and Battle Resolution states that the hero is discarded by the numbers.

In the dominant scenario, CM is an instantaneous ability that discards the hero before Battle Resolution begins.

There are two types of Mutual Destruction: by the numbers and by mutual removal (Achan's Sin, Rizaph's Sackcloth, etc.).  The hero wins a LS in the first one, but not in the second.  AotL/CM is more like the second.
