Hezekiah's Signet Ring
No opponent may search any draw pile or discard pile. Play As: Restrict opponents from searching decks or discard piles.

Sing and Praise
Remove from the game all cards (except Heroes) in a discard pile.

Ashtaroth Worship
Discard a good enhancement or remove from the game all cards in a discard pile.

If player A has HSR active, we all agree that player B cannot use a card like Confusion to target and discard a card from their deck (this targets player A's deck, then searches for a card within that deck).

But if player A has HSR active, what happens when player B uses Sing and Praise? I presume that in order to remove all except heroes there is an implied search for the heroes that are to remain in the discard pile.

What about Ashtaroth Worship? There is no implied search, as the card has the ability to remove the entire discard pile without specific targets or exceptions.

Red was always playable :)

i think they would still work, because they say remove from a discard pile, not search and then remove. Ashtaroth worship still work, i'm like 99% sure on that, and sing and praise would too because it is still technically removing the whole discard pile, but then you put the heroes back, so your not searching anything. i think. i'm probably not the best source of input :P

Agree with the conclusions in the original post.

Quote from: REG 3.0.0 > Search > General Description
A search ability allows a player to view a deck, discard pile, or Artifact Pile to perform an action with a specific card or set of cards.

Sing and Praise is a search, because it looks for a 'specific set of cards' in a location (all cards that are not Heroes).  HSR stops an opponent from using Sing and Praise to affect a discard pile.

Ashtaroth Worship is not a search, because it does not allow viewing a location to act on a specific card or set of cards.  HSR does not stop use of Ashtaroth Worship.

Would HSR stop Forgotten History if there were 4 or fewer cards in the discard pile?

Have you looked it up in ORCID?

I would say yes, because I would say trying to exchange Oak to a deck of 1 would still be a search.  Just because the search hits the only card (or only cards) in a location, does not mean it is not a search.

I agree with this.
