Angel at Tomb?

SA: If your Son of God card was discarded without making a rescue, shuffle it into draw pile. Cannot be Negated.

If I was to discard SoG myself without making a rescue couldn't I keep recurring it even if I make rescues after I discarded it. AaT says if discarded without making a rescue and it was once but then made a rescue later, so I did fulfill the requirement of it being discarded.

AatT refers to Son of God rescuing a Lost Soul, not a Hero making a rescue attempt.

The answer to your question is yes, if you discard SoG without using it to rescue a Lost Soul (like say to I am Holy) then you can continue to recur it over and over with AatT.

I believe the question is this: if you discard your SoG once then get it back with AaT and use it, then can you get it again with with AaT since at one point it was discarded without making a rescue. The answer should clearly be no but I don't know the best explanation why.

How I understood it to work is that it checks everytime you bring it into battle, say your SoG got confusioned and you used Aatt it would check to see if it was discarded without making a rescue and then allow search.

Considering it says "was discarded" I don't think my understanding is correct unless it has a play as or eratta.

Since time seems to be rather relative in Redemption, at least in terms of the discard pile (the healing of things later in the turn proves this), "was discarded" means basically the same as "is currently discarded," or at least it seems so to me. As such, I would think AaT's ability could be interpreted as "If your Son of God card was is currently discarded without making having made a rescue...." This would seem to explain why a SoG discarded, recurred once with AaT, and then played to rescue a Soul would not then be again recurrable by AaT.

Thing is there is no errata in place that says that so right now why couldn't it be legitly played the way I proposed it could. I know it would be errata-ed right away but.....that's not the point.

Clearly, the intent is as browarod stated.  But that's not the wording!

The intent is not the same as the wording. Look at ANB. :maul:

The intent and the wording are both perfectly fine. Once your unused SoG is shuffled back into your deck it resets, just like every card that returns to your deck. It's no longer a card that was discarded (without being used).
