Type: Hero Char. • Brigade: Red • Ability: 10 / 3 • Class: Warrior • Special Ability: David may use and hold one weapon class enhancement from any good brigade except silver. • Identifiers: OT Male Human, King (Israel), Royalty, Prophet, Fought Earthly Battle • Verse: I Samuel 17:37 • Availability: Kings booster packs (Rare)

The question would go like this.  You make a rescue attempt or a battle challenge with David.  He does unblocked either way.  Does his ability activate so then I can now put on a weapon from another brigade onto him or do I have to have initiative in a battle to do so?  Or after the battle, since it said he can hold one, can I throw one on in territory?  Thanks!

You must get initiative in battle to play the WC enhancement.  You cannot play it in territory.

So that ability doesn't stay activated once you come into battle?  I only ask because if it did, then once he is back in territory, you would still be able to put the enhancement on him.

By default, abilities only last until the end of current phase, unless otherwise noted.  So David's ability is not activated after battle phase.

Hey,

If David's ability isn't active outside of battle then the "and hold" part of his ability does nothing.  So the use of that word implies that David's ability lasts beyond the end of battle (I know implied things aren't good but it is what it is).  So David's ability remains active until the end of the game.  A non-Red weapon could be played on him in battle, or after battle (basically you could play any non-Silver weapon with David as if it were Red) after David enters battle the first time.

Then I think David needs a Play As/Eratta.  I agree with the hold part, but if David is to be able to get a WC enhancement outside of battle after his first BC/RA, I think that needs changing.

I could see this going either way. I'm not sure the ability to hold a weapon of a different color outside of battle means that you can necessarily place one on him outside of battle.

David is a card where the ability would make sense to change but that is against the way the card was ment to be played so I doubt that will happen.
