Post by: Jmbeers on September 01, 2011, 09:07:51 PM
When does Ahimelek the Hittieā€™s return ability take affect?

His ability activates when he enters battle.

So to stop him you must have two or more evil characters in battle?

As far as I know, there's no way to protect from it, so yes.

He's only good if you band him into battle after a blocker is presented. Surely you can find some way to negate an enhancement or two.

If David is in play, it's CBN.  You have to stop the ability removing you from battle (which is CBN), so negating an enhancement won't help.

Or have more than one person in battle and then negate the enhancement after you lose your blocker. Looking back from Nats and at the new set it wouldn't be surprising if someone had Gomer banded to someone and then you can either negate the enhancement with your other blocker or simply play plot on Gomer. If you don't have the cards to do that then I will continue to be saddened by the lack of defense being played in this game.

Doesn't matter if you negate the enhancement, if he enters battle and David is in play, that evil character will remain in your hand. Period.

Orly? Let's see if you still think that when I take back my Seven Wicked Spirits.

What if blocker is presented from hand after Ahimelek the Hittie already has entered the battle? Does his return ability still takes effect on that late presented character?

No. "Return" is an instant ability, not ongoing. If there is no target for the ability once it activates in battle, then it cannot be used.
