It doesn't specify, so can he search your opponent's discard pile as well?

Still useful, if you run a deck with 2KH or Namaan's Chariot and Horse and one of those get discarded you can put one of those back in play on one of your Hero's

he's also useful for putting Foreign Sword on King Hiram. ;)
