"Set Hero" VS "Set a Hero"

Here is my question:  What is the difference between these two abilities.  Cards like Ambush specifically say "set aside A hero" while cards like provsions say "set Hero aside".  It seems to me like Ambush can set anyone aside while Provisions can only set the hero that it was played on aside.  What is the actual rule?

Thanks,
    Cameron

Ambush

Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Red • Ability: None • Class: None  • Play As: Set aside a male Hero (face down) from your hand for one turn. Hero returns to territory face down. Hero enters battle face down with access to any site. When opponent presents an Evil Character in battle or chooses not to block, Hero is flipped face up.

Provisions

Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Green • Ability: None • Class: None • Errata: Set Hero aside for 2 turns. On return, holder may draw 2 cards, and hero gains the special ability (for hero’s next rescue attempt only) “Holder may choose the Evil Character opponent uses to block.”

Everywhere I've been (Nationals included) no one else has brought this up. Either we are all really dumb, or the "a" is assumed in cards like Provisions. I'm not sure which.

I asked roughly the same question a while back on the board, and the official answer from Stephen, Bryon, and others is that there is no difference.

Unfortunately there is some problem that started within the past couple of days related to searching or post retention and I cannot find the link.

I have no idea about any official rulings, but I know many people, myself included, that have played Provisions in their territory on a green hero to set a different, non-green hero aside.

When I first used a Provisions abuse deck at a tourney, Bryon confirmed that "set hero aside" on Provisions allows any hero to be set aside.

If a card said "Set this hero aside," it would have to be the hero it was played on.

Hey,

This issue was discussed by TPTB in July and actually did come up at nationals (I remember making a ruling on it during booster draft).

The ruling on the issue was:

"Hero" means "this Hero" when it is the subject of the sentence and "Hero" means "a Hero" when it is the direct object of the sentence.

So when Provisions says "Set hero aside" the subject is an understood you, the verb is set and "hero" is the direct object.  Which means "Set hero aside" on Provisions is played as "Set a Hero aside" and thus functions the same as Ambush.

So cards that say "Hero is set aside" must be used on the hero they're played on?
