How many artifacts can you activate per turn? This is assuming you have multiple places that can house artifacts.

I don't think there is a limit... is there?

A "holds" identifier allows an Artifact to be activated outside of the Artifact pile during your prep phase. This allows cards like Fortresses that hold Artifacts and Magic Charms to activate independent from the Artifact pile.

Apart from those, or abilities that allow you to activate an Artifact (U&T, Queen Maachah, etc), you're only allowed to active one Artifact per turn on your Artifact pile.

There is a reason I asked this question and now it is slipping my mind. Is there an artifact that says activate it and then put it somewhere else? Sorry for the fishing expedition. I am trying to remember the card we had an issue with but to no avail...

Let me ask a follow-up question. I have Peter in play in my prep phase and I discard Four-Drachma coin, and draw Herod's Temple with it. Can I put down HT and activate Lampstand on it?

Priestly Breastplate is possibly the card you're thinking of. It was intended to work like Magic Charms but it does not.

Yes.

Priestly Breastplate is in dispute. There has been no authoritative ruling on whether Artifacts deactivate and reactivate every prep phase, or whether they can be allowed to simply remain active. There is a contradiction on the most popular sets of rulings, which tend to say that PBP cannot stay active on a Hero without re-activating in draw pile, yet also say that an Art activated on a character who gets set aside will continue to be set aside with the character.

We need resolution on how the artifact activation mechanism actually works. I support continued activation rather than blanket deactivation and reselection because it's much simpler, but we need a firm ruling one way or the other.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

I'm not sure why anything is in dispute or creating confusion.

As a general rule Artifacts are activated every turn during your prep phase. I've never seen anyone require another player to turn them all face down and then reactivate them, just leave it face up and use the ability again if it's an instant ability, or if it's ongoing it just keeps working.

Priestly Breastplate can work differently because it has a place ability. To use it's ability you must activate it on the Artifact pile because it's not an identifier. Once it's active, if you choose to use the place ability it stays on the priest until it's removed by a special ability. You cannot choose to deactivate it (unplace it). That's how all place cards work.

Priestly Breastplate (Pi)
Type: Artifact • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Negate all ignore and repel abilities on Characters and Enhancements. May be placed on a good High Priest when activated. • Play As: Negate ignore abilities on Characters and Enhancements. May place on a good High Priest when activated. • Identifiers: None • Verse: Exodus 28:15-16 • Availability: Priests booster packs (Uncommon)
