A question about the choose opponent ability

I have a question about the choose opponent ability:

Quote
Choose Opponent
Last Updated: 8/23/2016 (v4.0.0)
Released: 7/26/2011

General Description
A choose opponent ability allows you to select the character your opponent uses in battle against you.

How to Play
A choose opponent ability used before a blocker is presented forces your opponent to block with the chosen character, instead of allowing them to choose their blocker.
A choose opponent ability used after a blocker is presented removes all characters your opponent controls in battle and puts the selected character in battle. If any character in battle cannot be removed by the choose opponent ability, then no character can be added via that ability.
A choose opponent ability targets both the character(s) to be removed from battle and the character to be put into battle (and the blocking player if no blocker has yet been presented, restricting them from being able to present an initial blocker of their choosing).
A choose opponent ability is instantaneous.

Default Conditions
● The character targeted to be put into battle must come from the hand of the player using the choose opponent ability or from a territory.
● Characters removed from battle by a choose opponent ability are returned to the territory of the player with permanent control of the card.
Special Conditions
● A choose opponent ability used before the initial blocker is presented cannot be interrupted (though it can be
prevented).

As I understand it if I make a rescue attempt or a battle challenge with a Hero that has the choose opponent ability I can even choose my own EC from either my hand or my territory as an opponent.

Is this true?

Btw., do you have some example of a character with such a choose opponent ability?

Most of the CtB (choose the blocker) Heroes say "An opponent's evil character", but there are a few enhancements that allow you to use your own. two examples of CtB heroes are Jael (W) and Asahel (TxP)

Jael:Character may choose any male, human Evil Character in opponent's territory to block a rescue attempt.

Asahel: May band to an O.T. warrior class human Hero or may choose opponent's male human Evil Character to block. Protect Asahel from withdraw and return abilities.

Those are two of my favorite heroes in all of redemption! I have a deck built around them and it is really fun!
Some call me "Goofus"

The most used card that allows you to choose your evil character for your opponent to block with is Provisions:

Provisions:

Set Hero aside for 2 turns. On return holder may draw 2 cards and may choose the Evil Character his opponent uses to block Hero's next rescue attempt.

Errata:
Set aside Hero for 2 turns. On return, holder may draw 2 cards, and hero gains the ability (for Hero’s next rescue attempt only) “Holder may choose the Evil Character opponent uses to block”.

The most used is probably King Amaziah. He and Jude will let you use your own eligible ECs for them to block, but only once per game.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!
