my opponent makes a rescue attempt with a 5/5 hero. i block with a herod, then opponent plays an enhancement that makes his strength over 7/*. can i now trigger herod's dungeon, or does the 7/* only refer to the heroes own printed strength, and not including the strength combined of good enhancements played on him?

Herod’s Dungeon
Type: Site • Brigade: White • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: While blocking with a Herod while this Site is unoccupied, you may capture a male human Hero with strength 7/* or greater and place it here. I'm pretty sure regular enhanvements in battle don't count, but I think WC enhancements do.

odd, i could have sworn the trap of the devil counted up the total strength of heroes with enhancements combined to determine if it works or not. i thought these two were worded rather similiarly.

They are worded thusly:

Trap: "good cards"
Dungeon: "Hero"

As such, there is the framework for distinction between the two, however someone will need to confirm if in fact that distinction exists or not. I can see it going both ways.

Numbers on enhancements (including weapon-class) do not count toward Herod's Dungeon.  Neither have they counted for cards like Widow, Zebulun, etc.

1/1 counters and special abilities that increase the stats of heroes (Elijah's Mantle, Love of Jesus, etc.) DO count toward Herod's Dungeon.

Right. TTotD's trigger is when the total strength of good cards (heroes and enhancements) reaches 14+. Herod's Dungeon specifies the Hero needing to have strength 7+, not hero and enhancements.
