Heroes (actually all characters) with 0 toughness and below are instantly discarded. The exception is during the battle phase, discarding is prevented until after battle resolution.9. It's the honor system.10. The opponent can play the enhancement, but it would not harm the immune character. A negate (or a different brigade in your example) is necessary to harm the immune character.
7. If you're the hero in the battle, why would you have any desire to protect a Lost Soul from rescue? You're the one trying to rescue it
"Initiative is determined by the last card played "in the current battle""When 1 hero and 1 evil character are in battle, with the same power/toughness, who gets to play the first enhancement? Would you then try to remember if the evil character or the hero was played first to determine Initiative?
